1 min readShimla, 26 September 2024: Jairam Thakur, Leader of Opposition, inaugurated an exhibition on Shimla’s Mall Road as part of the Seva Pakhwada celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The exhibition showcased key milestones of the Modi government and insights into the Prime Minister’s life. Thakur praised Modi’s leadership, highlighting his contributions as Gujarat’s Chief Minister and India’s Prime Minister, emphasizing India’s rise to global prominence under his tenure. He urged citizens to visit the exhibition, which will be displayed in all Himachal Lok Sabha constituencies.
Thakur took aim at Congress over the ongoing mosque controversy, accusing the party of hypocrisy. He criticized Congress ministers for backtracking on their statements under pressure from Delhi-based leaders. Referring to AIMIM leader’s visit to the sealed mosque, Thakur condemned the creation of provocative videos that threaten communal harmony in Shimla. He called for the arrest of the AIMIM leader and expressed disappointment over the delay, stating that Hindu leaders protesting peacefully had faced swift action. Thakur questioned Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s silence on the issue, calling it alarming.
Additionally, Thakur responded to Cabinet Minister Vikramaditya Singh’s comments on street vendor identification policies. He pointed out the irony in Congress now adopting the very policy they mocked during his government. Thakur questioned how long Singh would stand by his statement, noting that similar remarks by Minister Aniruddh Singh had led to a reversal under party pressure.
