Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Friday criticised the Congress-led state government during his visit to Palampur in Kangra district. Addressing meetings of BJP workers, he alleged financial mismanagement and accused the government of failing to deliver on its promises.
Thakur said the slogan of “system change” was being used only for political messaging, while the state’s financial condition was deteriorating. He claimed the government had ignored advance warnings about the end of Revenue Deficit Grant and made no serious preparations to handle the situation.
He also raised concerns over delays in salaries, pensions, and development funds, and questioned the government’s decisions related to cabinet-rank appointments. Alleging irregularities in the smart meter tender process, he said transparency and financial discipline were lacking.
Calling upon BJP workers to stay alert and prepared for upcoming elections, Thakur said people of Himachal Pradesh were now questioning the government’s claims. Several senior BJP leaders and workers were present during the meetings held as part of his Kangra tour.
