Mandi, October 14, 2025 — Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur alleged that Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu falsely claimed to have addressed the House of Lords, UK, making him the first Indian CM to do so. Thakur said official verification from the House of Lords’ press office revealed that no such address took place on September 24, 2025. He criticized the CM for using state machinery and media to propagate the claim, calling it a “white lie” that misleads citizens and damages the credibility of the government.
Thakur urged the CM to apologize to the people and media for spreading false information and to refrain from repeating such acts. He emphasized that every falsehood will be documented and held accountable.
In a separate event, Jai Ram Thakur addressed a Self-Reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) program at Janjahli, highlighting the importance of self-reliance for India’s growth and technological independence. He stressed promoting indigenous products, developing capabilities in sectors from ships to satellites, and advancing India’s vision of “Made in India, Made for the World.”
