Shimla, April 06: On the occasion of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Foundation Day, Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur hoisted the party flag at the BJP headquarters, Deepkamal in Chakkar, and extended warm greetings to party workers. The event saw the presence of key leaders including Organization General Secretary Siddharthan, former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Media In-Charge Karn Nanda, State Vice President Sanjeev Katwal, Office Secretary Pramod Thakur, Treasurer Kamal Sood, candidates Ravi Mehta and Sanjay Sood, District President Keshav Chauhan, among many others.
Jairam Thakur emphasized that BJP is the world’s largest and most prominent political party today, owing to the relentless struggle and dedication of its leaders and workers. He traced the party’s journey since its inception on April 6, 1980, as the successor of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, and highlighted key milestones—from Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s initial leadership to the historic victories under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
Recalling Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poetry, Jairam said, “Andhera chhatega, sooraj niklega, kamal khilega” (Darkness will end, the sun will rise, and the lotus will bloom), stirring enthusiasm among the workers. He reaffirmed that BJP’s focus remains on nationalism and holistic socio-economic development.
He added that the BJP has 13 crore primary members as of 2024 and governs 21 states either independently or through coalitions. Thakur concluded by stating that BJP’s return to power in Himachal is inevitable and only a matter of time.
