Jairam Thakur Accuses CM Sukhu of Re-inaugurating BJP-era Projects Without New Contributions

Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has targeted Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over his repeated ribbon-cutting of projects initiated by the previous government. Thakur claimed that the CM, after closing operational institutions, has now become obsessed with inaugurating and re-inaugurating already launched or functional projects.
In a statement issued from Shimla, Thakur said, “The CM is cutting ribbons for projects that had already been inaugurated or are functional, without contributing a single penny. This is an unprecedented situation in Himachal Pradesh where the government is wasting taxpayers’ money on repeated inaugurations and functions.”
Thakur cited the example of the Trauma Centre at IGMC, where despite no contribution from the current government, the CM repeatedly cut ribbons for its inauguration and functioning. He also mentioned the expansion of the vegetable market in Shimla, where the previous government had already completed all the necessary groundwork, including DPR preparation and NGT clearance. However, the current government failed to start the work despite having no hindrances.
Thakur further criticized the CM for not acknowledging the previous government’s contributions in various projects, including a processing plant at Parala, and new construction projects in other areas, which were initiated under his leadership.
