Jairam Thakur Accuses CM Sukhu of Lying Over Jungle Fowl Controversy
1 min readShimla, Dec 14: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of lying to the public over the recent controversy surrounding the serving of “jungle fowl” at an official event in Kupvi. Thakur stated that while the CM initially acknowledged serving “jungle fowl,” he later changed his statement, calling it “desi fowl” to evade responsibility.
Thakur emphasized that the incident was broadcast live, and the CM’s remarks were witnessed by the public. He criticized the CM’s behavior as unbecoming of a leader and urged him to reflect on his actions instead of blaming the Opposition. Thakur further highlighted that serving jungle fowl violates the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, which lists such species under “Schedule One,” making hunting or killing them a punishable offense.
He alleged that the controversy demonstrated the CM’s disregard for laws and urged the government to investigate the matter transparently. Comparing it to past accusations against the BJP’s “Jan Manch” program, Thakur pointed out the hypocrisy of criticizing initiatives aimed at helping the public while indulging in lavish events.
Thakur demanded accountability from the government and criticized Congress leaders for failing to address public concerns while engaging in political blame games.
