Shimla, September 2, 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, launched a scathing attack on the Himachal Pradesh government, alleging that Chief Minister manipulated the Dehra by-election by distributing funds to women’s groups and misusing administrative power. Thakur said that despite repeated demands, the government has failed to provide details in the Assembly regarding cooperative bank funds given to Mahila Mandals during the elections.
Highlighting that the same information was accessible through RTI, he accused the government of deliberately suppressing facts to hide electoral malpractices. BJP staged a walkout from the Assembly in protest. Thakur further alleged that the government was indulging in “vote theft,” selling state assets, misleading people, and lowering the dignity of the House. He said the Congress government has failed to showcase even a single credible achievement.
