Jairam Slams Sukhu Government Over MGNREGA Account Delay, Joins Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha in Thunag

Mandi, June 17, 2025 — Leader of Opposition and former CM Jairam Thakur criticized the Himachal Pradesh government for failing to open separate bank accounts for centrally sponsored schemes like MGNREGA, despite repeated requests from the Centre. He alleged the delay is obstructing the release of ₹800 crore in grants and impacting 16 out of 28 schemes under the SNA-SPARSH system. Thakur questioned CM Sukhvinder Sukhu’s economic policies and accused the state government of halting development while blaming the Centre.

Speaking at the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha” in Thunag, Thakur highlighted India’s remarkable progress under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years in sectors like Digital India, Ujjwala Yojana, and infrastructure growth. BJP district president Nihal Chand Sharma and other party leaders also attended the event.
