Jairam Criticizes Sukh Government Over Collapsing Health System and Job Losses

1 min read

Shimla, September 27, 2025 — Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, strongly criticized the Sukh government, terming its governance “shameful” amid a collapsing health system and rampant job losses in Himachal Pradesh.

In a statement from Shimla, Thakur highlighted the dire condition of the state’s healthcare. Patients are struggling to receive even basic tests and essential medicines, including treatments for serious diseases like cancer. Hospitals reportedly refuse to provide medicines due to unpaid dues, with the Him Care program facing a backlog of over ₹400 crore. Despite this, Thakur alleged, senior health officials and ministers are planning foreign tours to London and Paris with their families.

Thakur further condemned the government for neglecting disaster-affected citizens. Immediate relief of ₹2,500 has not reached the needy, and Sahara Pension support has been suspended. While ordinary citizens struggle financially to afford treatment, the government allegedly prioritizes luxury foreign visits. He described the government as “shameless,” claiming it has funds for overseas trips but not for essential healthcare.

On employment, Thakur accused the Congress government of reneging on pre-poll promises. Despite guarantees of creating 1 lakh jobs, the administration is reportedly eliminating positions while creating posts for political acquaintances. Recently, 341 posts were abolished in HIMUDA, though a new advisory position was simultaneously created.

Thakur concluded that the government’s actions contradict its own pledges, worsening public suffering while prioritizing political favoritism and personal luxury.
