Jairam Criticizes Bengal Government and INDIA Alliance for Supporting Accused in Brutal Incident
1 min readShimla, August 17: Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, strongly condemned the Bengal government and the INDIA alliance for allegedly siding with the accused in the brutal case involving a doctor in Bengal. Thakur criticized the state government and medical college administration, calling their actions “shameful” and accusing them of attempting to cover up the incident from the very beginning.
Thakur expressed disbelief at the authorities’ initial claim that the incident was a suicide, questioning how experienced doctors and police officials could make such a statement when faced with clear evidence of a crime. He demanded that the government and hospital administration be held accountable for their questionable conduct and called for a speedy trial to ensure the culprits receive the harshest punishment under the law.
He further accused the INDIA alliance of remaining silent on the matter, despite the grave nature of the incident. Thakur highlighted that neither Rahul Gandhi nor any other leader from the alliance questioned Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, nor did they raise concerns about the alleged tampering with evidence or the attacks on protesting doctors.
Thakur also criticized the Bengal government for its handling of the situation, including the decision to reassign the medical college principal instead of suspending or placing them on leave during the investigation. He described the government’s actions as a betrayal of the victim and a reflection of the state’s deteriorating law and order situation under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership.
