Shimla, October 5, 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has accused the Himachal Pradesh government of being “inhumane and anarchic,” alleging that it has ignored both the High Court’s orders and the plight of disaster-affected families.
Thakur stated that villagers from the Pandav Shila–Dhar region have been demanding the restoration of a road washed away in the recent calamity, which the High Court had directed to be rebuilt as an ambulance route. However, he claimed that due to the pressure of a local Congress leader, the Forest and Public Works Departments halted the reconstruction, seized machinery, and filed an FIR against the village panchayat pradhan.
He further said that locals are forced to walk over an hour on foot, and even a child was recently injured after falling from a slope. According to Thakur, three bodies remain buried under debris because machines cannot reach the site due to the blocked road.
Calling the government’s conduct “insensitive and dictatorial,” Thakur said he has informed the Chief Minister about the situation and vowed to stand firmly with the affected families until justice is done.
