Jairam Condemns Assault on NHAI Officials

Shimla, July 30 2025: Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has strongly condemned the alleged physical assault on two NHAI officials in the presence of a state minister, police, and administration, calling it a “shameful and disgraceful act.” Thakur said the officials were summoned, their phones and cameras forcibly turned off, and then assaulted inside a locked room. Supporters of the minister further attacked them outside, throwing flower pots and leaving them seriously injured.

Thakur added that both officials were rescued by media personnel and are now receiving treatment at IGMC. He criticized the SDM and police for failing to intervene or even ensure medical help. He called the incident a grave failure of law and order.

Demanding swift action, Thakur urged the Chief Minister to immediately dismiss the minister from the cabinet and prosecute all those involved. He warned that such lawlessness cannot be tolerated. Thakur also alleged that the administration is attempting to suppress the matter and that threats have been issued to media personnel and the victims to silence the incident.
