Shimla, August 9, 2025 — Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur celebrated Raksha Bandhan at his official residence in Shimla, where visiting sisters tied rakhi to him. Extending greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh, he wished for the well-being and success of all sisters.

Expressing concern over the heavy rains in the past 48 hours, Thakur said several parts of the state, including Kullu and Bilaspur, have suffered severe damage, with the Chandigarh–Manali highway blocked at multiple points. He urged the government and administration to ensure the safety of disaster-affected people and tourists, and appealed to the public to follow safety advisories.
