Jairam Accuses Congress Government of Betrayal and Financial Mismanagement

2 min read

Mandi: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur has voiced strong support for the demands of employees and pensioners, criticizing the Congress government for its alleged betrayal and financial mismanagement. In a press statement, Thakur labeled the current government as deceitful and untrustworthy, accusing it of breaking pre-election promises.

Thakur pointed out that Congress leaders had previously committed to ending outsourced jobs and providing permanent positions if they came to power. However, he criticized the current Chief Minister for planning to increase outsourced positions and for making disparaging comments about teachers’ salaries despite the challenging geographical conditions in Himachal Pradesh. Thakur also accused the Congress government of failing to deliver on its promises and creating delays in salary, Dearness Allowance (DA), and arrears payments.

He highlighted that under the BJP government, there were never delays in salary payments or DA/arrears disbursement, even during economic challenges. In contrast, he claimed the current government is burdened with excessive debt and failing to pay salaries, DA, and medical reimbursements on time. Thakur suggested that the Chief Minister is mismanaging funds and urged him to release a white paper detailing the allocation of approximately ₹30,000 crore in loans taken over the past 20 months.

Thakur also criticized the government’s handling of public services and financial policies, arguing that unnecessary burdens are being placed on the public while essential services are being cut. He concluded by demanding immediate fulfillment of promises made to employees and pensioners and stated that these issues will be raised in the upcoming legislative session. Thakur emphasized that despite being in opposition, he will continue to voice the public’s concerns and hold the government accountable.
