Jai Ram Thakur Targets Congress, Calls Government’s Achievements “Zero”
1 min readShimla: Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress government during a press conference in Shimla, criticizing its two-year celebrations. He alleged that the government spent over ₹25 crore on the events but failed to present a single concrete achievement. He further accused the ruling party of using public platforms to intimidate the opposition and journalists, a practice he labeled as undemocratic.
Jai Ram Thakur highlighted the plight of HRTC pensioners, claiming they often go unpaid and are forced to protest. He criticized the government for focusing on publicity rather than addressing pressing issues like pensions.
He called out Congress in-charge Rajeev Shukla for making derogatory remarks, demanding a public apology. Thakur also took a jibe at the Deputy Chief Minister, suggesting his role in the government is largely symbolic, akin to that of an opposition leader.
Commenting on the controversial toilet tax and other governance issues, Thakur labeled the Congress administration as insensitive and ineffective. He alleged rampant factionalism and corruption within the party and demanded answers on scandals involving liquor, mining, solar projects, and PWD operations.
“The government cannot escape the allegations and must conduct investigations to hold culprits accountable,” he asserted, adding that Congress has turned its leadership battles into a public spectacle.
