ITR Filing Due Date Extended to 15th September 2025

New Delhi | 25 May 2025: In a major relief to taxpayers, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) from 31st July 2025 to 15th September 2025.
The decision has been taken in light of significant changes in ITR forms, ongoing system upgrades, and the delayed reflection of TDS credits, which could impact the accuracy and ease of return filing. The CBDT aims to ensure a smoother and more convenient filing process for all taxpayers.
A formal notification regarding the extension will be issued shortly.
