International Virtual Seminar on “Acharya Abhinavgupta: Legacy and Significance” at IIAS

Shimla: Indian Institute of Advanced Study Shimla is organizing a two-day International Virtual Seminar on “Acharya Abhinavgupta: Legacy and Significance” from 21st June 2021.The welcome address and the brief outline of the content will be done by the Director of the Institute, Professor Makarand R. Paranjape. Dr. Alka Tyagi, the Convener of the seminar, said that this event is being organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Acharya Abhinav Gupta, in which his intellectual and knowledge heritage and his contribution to various aspects of humanity will be underlined.
Dr. Tyagi said that while Abhinav Gupta is considered a philosopher, commentator and aesthetician in the world, while in Kashmir and Shaivism, he is considered a siddha and a guru. In this two day seminar, various contributions made by this great Kashmiri Shaivite saint, scholar, visionary thinker and their relevance in the present context will be highlighted. Apart from the Fellows of the Institute, scholars from the country and abroad will also join this virtual seminar.
