International Ozone Day organized by HIMCOSTE & JUIT

Solan, Sept. 16

The HP ENVIS Hub and National Green Corps Programme of Himachal Pradesh Council of Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE) in association with Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan organized International Ozone Day.

During this program, Poster making and Declamation competitions were organized for the students. Dr. Hemant Sood and Dr. Gopal Singh Visht, Jaypee University delivered their talks to make students aware on the effect of ozone depletion. Shri Sat Pal Dhiman, Joint Member Secretary, HIMCOSTE  graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Jaypee University and other dignitaries of the University were present on this occasion.

Sat Pal Dhiman apprised the students about the ozone layer and he also said that the purpose of celebrating this day is to make people aware of the ozone layer. The ozone layer works to protect the earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Life without the ozone layer can be in danger, because if ultraviolet rays reach the earth directly, then they can be extremely dangerous for humans, plants and animals. In such a situation, the protection of the ozone layer is very important.
