Infant Abandoned at Hospital: Legal Process for Freedom Initiated if Not Adopted by Relatives

Hamirpur, January 3: Last month, an infant left at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College Hospital in Hamirpur was sent to the Bal-Balika Shishu Grah in Tuti Kandi near Shimla.

District Child Protection Officer Tilak Raj Acharya stated that the parents of the child can retrieve the infant by presenting their identification documents at the Bal-Balika Shishu Grah. For this, they can contact the Tuti Kandi Bal-Balika Shishu Grah at the telephone number 0177-2807530 or the District Child Protection Officer’s office in Hamirpur at the telephone number 01972-223344.

Acharya emphasized that if no relatives come forward to claim the child, the legal process for freeing the infant for adoption by another couple will be initiated.
