1 min read

Shimla, October 9, 2025 — Former BJP State President and MP Suresh Kashyap met Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in Delhi, where he emphasized that India’s export journey reflects the blend of innovation and global integration.

Kashyap noted that from the ancient Silk Route to post-liberalization expansion, India’s exports have diversified from spices and textiles to technology, pharmaceuticals, and engineering goods. According to World Bank data, while global exports are growing at 2.5%, India’s exports surged 7.1% in 2024, signaling the nation’s strong performance on the international stage.

The share of exports in India’s GDP rose from 19.8% in 2015 to 21.2% in 2024, underscoring their growing importance. During April–August 2025, total exports (merchandise and services combined) grew by 5.19%, reaching USD 346.10 billion, compared to USD 329.03 billion during the same period in 2024. Merchandise exports accounted for 53.09%, while services contributed 46.91%.

Recognizing this growth trajectory, the government has set an ambitious target of USD 1 trillion in exports for FY 2025–26, with 34.61% already achieved in the first five months. Kashyap highlighted that driven by government reforms, digital transformation, and entrepreneurial spirit, India’s export sector stands at a new pinnacle—reshaping the story of Atmanirbhar Bharat on the global stage.
