Increase in Fire Incidents during Winter Season in Shimla

Shimla, February 7: The incidents of fire accidents are on the rise during the winter season in Shimla. Cases of fire accidents have been reported at the ISBT bus stand in Tutikandi and the Theog sub-district. Although no casualties were reported in both incidents, significant property damage has occurred, estimated in lakhs. At the ISBT bus stand, a fierce fire broke out today in the Tata company showroom, causing partial damage to three new vehicles. However, no lives were harmed.
In a separate incident yesterday evening, Joginder Sharma’s two-story house in the Gadli village of Bharana, Theog, was reduced to ashes due to a fire. The fire engulfed a kitchen, four rooms, and a large hall. The incident occurred when there was no one present in the house. Joginder Sharma is the sole member of the household, and he has been on a pilgrimage since February 1. Upon his return from the pilgrimage, a complaint about the fire incident was lodged at Theog police station. The estimated loss in this fire incident is around 25 lakhs. The local administration has provided immediate relief of Rs. 10,000. The Vice-Chairman of the Municipal Corporation, Kehar Singh Khachi, has also provided Rs. 30,000 to the affected family. The Theog police are conducting an investigation into the fire incident.
On the other hand, panic ensued at the ISBT bus stand in Shimla when a fire broke out in the showroom of the Tata company located there. The flames partially damaged three new vehicles parked in the showroom. Passengers at the bus stand were also frightened by the flames. The fire incident caused a commotion to the extent that fire tenders had to be summoned not only from Baluganj but also from small Shimla and Mall Road fire stations. The Baluganj police remained present at the scene. The incident occurred in the Tata company showroom at the ISBT bus stand.
It took about three hours for the fire personnel to bring the flames under control. Under the leadership of Baluganj Fire Station in-charge Gopal Das and fire officer Bhagat Ram Thakur, the fire personnel managed to control the fire. During this process, property worth two crores was saved from destruction.
Baluganj Fire Station in-charge Gopal Das reported that they received information about the fire incident at 4:21 PM. By promptly taking control of the fire with the efforts of fire personnel, extensive damage was prevented. He mentioned that around 25 lakhs worth of goods were burnt in the fire incident. Additionally, property worth two crores was saved from destruction. There are no reports of anyone being injured in this incident, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
