Inclement weather forces admin to restrict vehicular traffic

Shimla, Jan 2 – The coldwave continues in Himachal Pradesh as the mercury plummeted under subzero at several places.

Lahaul-Spiti district administration issued a travel advisory to commuters restricting vehicular traffic on the Manali-Rohtang tunnel and between Keylong to Darcha. The minimum temperature of Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti district was at minus 20 degrees, Keylong minus 8.8, Kalpa (Kinnaur( minus 3.8, Manali (Kullu) minus 1.8, Shimla two, Narkanda minis one, Una one, Solan 1.5, Mandi 1.6, Hamirpur 1.7, Dalhousie 1.9, Kangra 3.5, Bilaspur 4.5 degrees.
Issuing an advisory to commuters and tourists District Administration Lahaul-Spiti said in view of the road condition (between Atal Tunnel to Solang Nullah) and also keeping in consideration the black ice factor and slippery road on NH 03, it is advisable that all vehicles are allowed except two-wheelers, vehicular traffic movement will be permitted from ATR-Solang Nullah (vice-versa) from 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM only till further orders.
Due to the inclement weather, locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. All hotel and homestay owners are also requested to advise their guests likewise. Keeping in view the road condition (Darcha-Shinkula) District Administration also cautioned the commuters that the black ice factor and slippery road on the Darcha sector (D.S) on the Mansli-Leh highway. It is advisable that only 4×4 vehicular traffic movement will be permitted from Darcha to Shinkula (and vice-versa) from 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM only till further orders. Due to inclement weather, Locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. Met Office forecast mainly dry weather in the next 24 hours in the rest of the state.
