HRTC Offers 10-20% Discounts on Volvo Buses Using Smart Cards

Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is set to provide passengers with significant discounts ranging from 10% to 20% on Volvo bus fares when using smart cards. This initiative, effective from October 1st to March 31st, aims to encourage smart card usage and promote convenient travel options for passengers.

Under this scheme, senior citizens will enjoy a generous 20% discount on luxury Volvo buses, while the general public will benefit from a 10% fare reduction. HRTC is also extending the smart card facility to luxury bus travelers to ensure they can avail of these discounts.

The move to recognize smart cards on Volvo buses is driven by the desire to make these discounts accessible to a broader range of passengers. In the past, this facility was exclusively available for AC buses, but with the recent reduction in AC bus fares, this initiative will now be applicable only to Volvo buses.

To avail of these discounts seamlessly, passengers can obtain smart cards at booking counters, RM offices, and bus terminals without any inconvenience. District Magistrate of Dharamshala, Pankaj Chaddha, has confirmed that HRTC is fully prepared to accept smart cards on Volvo buses, making travel more cost-effective and convenient for the passengers of Himachal Pradesh.
