HPNLU Shimla Spearheads Dialogue on Library Futures: Confluence of Ideas and Innovations

In a bid to foster discussions and exchange ideas on the evolving landscape of library resources and services in Indian universities, the Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) Library organized a One-Day Seminar on “Recent Trends of Library Resources and Services in Indian Universities.” The event took place on December 11th, 2023, at the HPNLU Campus in Shimla.
The Seminar witnessed the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor, IILM University, Gurugram, Haryana, who inaugurated the event. Notable figures such as Prof. (Dr.) V. Vijaya Kumar, Director, NLIU, Bhopal; Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit Singh Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, SRM University Sonipat; and Prof. (Dr.) Nishtha Jaswal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU Shimla, graced the occasion.

Prof. (Dr.) Parmjit Singh Jaswal delivered the Presidential Address, emphasizing the significance of adapting to modern trends in library services.
Dr. Vikram K. Sharma, University Librarian, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, delivered a comprehensive Keynote Address, delving into various aspects of recent trends in library resources and services in Indian universities.
Three publishers—M/s. Total Library Solution Group Delhi, M/s. Balani Infotech Noida, and Magzter Digital Magazine Store, New Delhi—participated, showcasing and presenting their latest products and technologies.
Dr. Prem Chand, Librarian, IIAS Shimla, moderated a panel discussion among working librarians on the ‘Present Status of Libraries in the Electronic Era,’ offering valuable insights and perspectives.
The seminar saw the active participation of around 50 library professionals from universities, institutions, colleges, and schools across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Chandigarh.
Ph.D. scholars and LL.M students from HPNLU, Shimla, also engaged in the seminar, contributing to the diverse discussions.
Publishers presented their latest products and technologies, providing attendees with a firsthand look at advancements in library resources.
