HP Polls Dry Days From Nov 10 To 12
2 min readShimla, Nov 2 – Himachal Pradesh’s State Taxes & Excise Commissioner Yunus said here Wednesday that to ensure free, fair, peaceful and smooth conduction of Legislative Assembly polls, the 48 hours before the close of polls and the counting day has been declared as “Dry Days”.
As per orders issued here Wednesday 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the conclusion of the poll from November 10 to November 12 (5 pm) and the counting day — December 8 will be observed as ‘Dry Days’ throughout the state as per provision of the H.P. Excise Act, 2011 and Punjab Excise Act 1914.
“These orders would also be applicable within 3 km of the respective polling areas adjoining the state. As per order on all the days specified above, no spirituous, fermented, or intoxicating liquors or other substances of a like nature shall be sold, served, given or distributed at a hotel, eating house or tavern, shop, or in other places, public or private in Himachal Pradesh,” it added.
He said non-proprietary clubs, Star Hotels, restaurants and hotels run by anyone even if they are issued different categories of licenses for possession and supply of liquor, should also not be permitted to serve liquor on these days. The storage of liquor by individuals shall also be curtailed during the above period.
He said the concerned Collector (Excise), Deputy Commissioner of the State Taxes and Excise/Assistant Commissioner of State Taxes and Excise In-charge of the respective District as well as the Joint Commissioner of State Taxes and Excise (Flying Squad) are directed to implement these instructions scrupulously and ensure compliance of these orders by all licensees, their employees and all concerned within respective jurisdiction.
