HP: No end to inclement weather, yellow alert extended till May 3

Shimla, Apr 29 – Himachal Pradesh, which recorded several spells of rain and thunder showers this month is unlikely to get respite from inclement weather as India Meteorological Department extended yellow alert of prevailing inclement weather till May 3.

Met office forecast light rain and thunder showers at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh in next two days. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from the night of May 1, 2023.

Owing to fresh WDs. state will have Rain and thunder showers at few places on May 1 and widespread rainfall and Thunderstorms and hailstorm on May 2 and 3 , IMD said in the forecast.

Dark clouds are hovering the sky in state capital this afternoon and Met Office issued nowcast of light rain showers in town. Forecast of Light to moderate rain also being made inShimla, Solan, Sirmour, Chamba, Mandi, Kullu and Kangra for today.

Shimla recorded 4.5 mm rainfall in last 24 hrs and Berthin(Bilaspur) 0.3 mm. Thunderstrom also hit Jubberhatti, Shimla, and Kangra and Shimla and Haripurdhar(Sirmaur) lashed by hailstorm.

Minimum temperature improved by couple of degrees but it was still below normal. Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti was 0.1 degrees four degrees below normal.

This Capital town was 12 degrees. Kalpa in Kinnuar 4.2 , Bhuntar airport 11,Dharamshala 15.2, Una 16.7, Nahan (Sirmour) 18, Solan 11.4, Manali 6.6, Kangra 15.3, Mandi 12.6, Bilaspur 17, Hamirpur 14.6, Chamba 12, Dalhousie 12.8, Jubberhatti airport 14.6, Tourist resort Kufri 8.6 and Narakanda 7.1 degrees.
