Nalagarh, August 13: The relentless heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh is wreaking havoc across the region. A video captured the moment a part of the 602-year-old fort in Nalagarh collapsed due to flooding. The ground where the fort stood also experienced a landslide, causing damage to this historic structure. Four rooms of the fort have been destroyed in the landslide, as seen in the video, where the rooms collapsed within seconds. It’s important to note that the Nalagarh Fort used to represent the Hundur State.
Constructed during the reign of King Vikram Chand in 1421, the fort symbolized the rule of the royal dynasty. Perched on a hilltop, the resort has been operational within the fort since 1995. The present Chief of the erstwhile Chand dynasty, former Health Minister Virender Singh, resides in the resort. His son, Jitendra Singh, was present at the resort during the incident.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh has once again witnessed deteriorating conditions due to 24 hours of continuous rainfall. The situation has become reminiscent of July 9 in Mandi district. Road conditions are deteriorating in Solan and Sirmaur. The status of the Kalka-Shimla National Highway (NH) remains uncertain, with no guarantee of when it will be open or closed. Traveling along the highway is still risky.
