Himalaya Literary and Environmental Platform Launches Poetry Collection “Gaon Poochta Hai”

Shimla, 15 December 2024: Dr. Vijay Lakshmi Negi’s recently published poetry collection, *Gaon Poochta Hai*, was launched today at the Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. The event, organized by the Himalaya Literary, Cultural, and Environmental Platform, had Dr. Pankaj Lalit, Director of the Language, Art, and Culture Department, as the chief guest. He praised the collection for its depth and simplicity, emphasizing its ability to resonate with readers.

Dr. Lalit highlighted the department’s initiatives to promote art and literature, including providing platforms like *Kitaab Ghar* for regional authors. He encouraged writers to utilize the available facilities and emphasized the importance of integrating technology into literary discussions.

Young critic Prashant Raman Ravi described the poems in the collection as authentic reflections of life, touching the hearts of common people. Filmmaker and writer Dev Kanya lauded the collection’s focus on women’s empowerment and its depiction of societal and environmental realities.

Renowned critic Dr. Hem Raj Kaushik provided an in-depth review of the 44 poems, commending Dr. Negi’s sensitivity and creative journey, which began with diary entries during her student life.

Dr. Vidyasagar Sharma, Joint Director of Higher Education, praised Dr. Negi’s ability to transform thoughts into meaningful expressions.

The event also featured poetry readings by Dr. Negi and discussions about the platform’s efforts to promote literary culture, led by its convener, S.R. Harnaut. The program concluded with reflections on the societal and environmental consciousness embodied in the collection.
