Himachal Tops in Aadhaar Enrollment for Children Under 5

Shimla, August 1: Himachal Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in Aadhaar enrollment for children under five, achieving 56% coverage compared to the national average of 39%. In the past three months, pending biometric updates have reduced from 5.5 lakh to 4.75 lakh. Camps were organized in schools with the support of the Education Department to speed up mandatory biometric updates.
Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, during a review meeting with UIDAI officials, also launched facial authentication in the public distribution system. He instructed departments to activate Aadhaar kits and involve private schools and vaccination centers to ensure 100% enrollment coverage.
