Himachal to Witness Rapid Infrastructure Growth Under PM Modi’s Policies: Ravneet Singh Bittu

Shimla, February 18: Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh Bittu, has stated that the 2024-25 Union Budget is dedicated to the welfare of farmers, the middle class, women, and youth across the country, including Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized that PM Narendra Modi’s leadership has ensured continuous development in the state, laying the foundation for significant infrastructure growth.
Bittu highlighted that the central government has allocated ₹11,806 crore for Himachal Pradesh, ensuring major advancements in railways, water supply, agriculture, and healthcare. He pointed out that from 2014 to 2024, the Modi government has provided financial assistance of ₹54,662 crore for the state’s overall development.
Major Investments & Projects:
- Railway Expansion: ₹2,716 crore allocated for four major rail projects worth ₹13,168 crore, including the Bilaspur-Leh railway and Chandigarh-Manali-Leh rail project. Vista Dome coaches will be introduced on the Kalka-Shimla heritage railway to boost tourism.
- Jal Jeevan Mission: Part of the ₹67,000 crore scheme, ensuring tap water connections for 15.42 crore rural households.
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: ₹78,128 crore allocated, benefitting 3.45 crore poor families.
- Street Vendor Scheme: ₹373 crore allotted to support 68 lakh vendors.
- Agriculture Development: 100 districts, including Himachal, to benefit from targeted reforms.
- Ujjwala Yojana: ₹12,100 crore for LPG connections to 10.33 crore families.
- Income Tax Relief: No tax for income up to ₹12 lakh for the middle class.
Challenges & State Government’s Role
Bittu criticized the Himachal government, accusing it of delaying ₹660 crore in state contributions for railway projects, hampering progress. He also pointed to delays in Jal Jeevan Mission and Smart City projects, urging the state to effectively utilize central funds.

Bittu reassured that BJP will continue fighting for the state’s progress, urging the public to question the Congress government’s inefficiencies and support BJP for a self-reliant Himachal Pradesh.
