Himachal to be made model state of electronic vehicles: Bikram Singh

Transport Minister Bikram Singh said that Himachal Pradesh would be developed as model state in the  use of electronic vehicles. He said this during a meeting held with the senior officers to review the progress of the development projects of the department.

The Minister said that the use of electronic vehicles would be beneficial in conservation of environment and sustainable development along with creation of employment opportunities. The implementation of Electric Vehicle Policy in Himachal Pradesh would encourage people to use electric vehicles, he added.

Transport Minister said that charging stations and charging points would be set up to facilitate the people of the state. This facility would be made available at petrol pumps and other places as well. Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board has been identified as nodal agency for this purpose.

A detailed discussion on establishing transport town and driving training and inspection centre at Nadaun was also held in the meeting.

Transport Minister directed officers to prepare a detailed project report in this regard.

 He said the first State Level Committee would be constituted in the state under Swaran Jayanti Parivahan Yojana on 22 September, 2021. This committee would provide approval to various ambulance roads. The process to provide approval to 300 ambulance roads has already been started.

Bikram Singh said the Inspection and Automatic Vehicle Testing Centre would be established on 32 bighas land with an expenditure of Rs. 16.35 crore at Baddi. He would be visiting the identified place along with senior officers to get the status on the construction of the Centre.
