Himachal Pradesh Simplifies Organ Donation Process with Online Oath Form Filling
2 min readShimla, September 27: In Himachal Pradesh, organ donation-related oath forms will now be filled through a single medium. Under the official website of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), anyone can now fill out an oath form for organ donation from the comfort of their own home. By registering through a QR code on the website, individuals can express their willingness to donate their organs.
Dr. Sita Thakur, Director of Medical Education and Principal of IGMC, shared this information during a press conference organized by SOTTO on Tuesday. She explained that until now, individuals had to fill out Form No. 7 related to organ donation and then submit an oath form, but the government has taken this step to simplify the process and raise awareness across the country.
She mentioned that this registration will be linked to the Aadhar card. Dr. Puneet Mahajan, the nodal officer of SOTTO, informed that approximately 1,460 people from the state have filled out oath forms for organ donation, and an additional 90 oath forms have been filled out online. He urged people to participate in noble acts like organ donation and raise awareness among more individuals. He emphasized that one person’s organ donation can save the lives of up to eight people.
Dr. Thakur also mentioned that a special awareness campaign about the importance of organ donation is being conducted as part of the Ayushman Bharat program, which is ongoing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
During the event, MS Doctor Rahul Rawat, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at IGMC, Dr. Ramlal, President of the Nephrology Department at IGMC, Dr. Shomin Dheeman, Joint Director of SOTTO, Naresh, Transplant Coordinator at SOTTO, and Program Assistant Bharti Kashyap were also present.
