Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Dignity

Shimla, August 15, 2024: The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great dignity at its corporate office. The event was marked by a flag hoisting ceremony led by Shri Surender Kumar, Director Civil of HPPCL, who extended his warm wishes to all the officers and employees of the corporation.

In his address, Shri Surender Kumar called upon all the officers and employees to work with utmost dedication, ensuring that the corporation plays a significant role in the state’s economy through efficient electricity generation. He emphasized that the corporation is maintaining all its operational projects effectively, enabling them to produce electricity at full capacity and further contribute to the economic growth of Himachal Pradesh.

Shri Kumar also provided an update on the ongoing projects, mentioning that the construction of the 450 MW Shongtong Karcham Hydroelectric Project and the 48 MW Chanzu Hydroelectric Project is progressing well. He expressed confidence that these projects will be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Additionally, he highlighted the corporation’s efforts in harnessing solar energy, citing the successful implementation of the 32 MW Pekhubela Solar Energy Project in Una district, which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, on June 20, 2024.

Addressing the challenges faced in hydropower development, Shri Kumar noted the various obstacles in executing projects, including land acquisition, safety measures, law and order, and technical issues. He stressed the need to simplify these processes to ensure the smooth execution of hydropower projects.
