Himachal Pradesh Police Busts Transformer Theft Gang in Upper Shimla, Arrests Four

In Upper Shimla, a gang involved in large-scale transformer thefts has been apprehended by the police. The police have arrested four members of the gang and have also recovered the stolen transformers based on their information. The arrested individuals hail from neighboring Jammu and Kashmir. They have been involved in a series of transformer thefts over the past three years.
According to police information, the gang had stolen transformers from ten different locations in Rohru, Theog, and Jubbal-Kotkhai. To apprehend them, the Jubbal police had set up a trap, and on Friday, they successfully caught the culprits. The gang members have been identified as 24-year-old Mehraddeen, 27-year-old Yashar Hussain, 21-year-old Firdous Ahmad, and Shakeel Ahmad. This is the first time they have been caught.
Sanjeev Gandhi, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Shimla, confirmed that the stolen transformers were recovered from the possession of the culprits. The gang had been operating systematically, stealing transformers since 2020 in the upper regions of Shimla district.
The police are actively working to arrest additional members of the gang. The Jubbal police team played a crucial role in apprehending the gang members, and more arrests are expected in this case. Transformer thefts have been a recurring issue in the upper regions of Shimla district, and this arrest is a significant step toward curbing such incidents.
