Himachal Pradesh Issues Disaster Management Order Amid Heavy Monsoon Impact

Shimla, Sept. 01– In view of the ongoing heavy monsoon and its severe impact across the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has issued an official Disaster Management Order. Since June 19, 2025, the state has experienced continuous rainfall, leading to cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides. Over 161 lives have been lost, 40 people are missing, 845 houses fully damaged, and total losses are estimated at Rs. 3,056 crore. Road connectivity, water supply, and electricity services have also been severely affected.

The Chief Secretary, acting as Chairman of the State Executive Committee under the Disaster Management Act, has directed all state departments to follow Emergency Support Functions and ensure prompt disaster response. District Magistrates are empowered to issue necessary orders under Section 34 of the Act. The Public Works Department, JSV, and HPSEBL have been instructed to restore services on a war footing, while DDMAs are tasked with ensuring smooth movement of people, goods, and timely relief measures for affected residents.

Authorities continue to work to restore essential services and provide assistance to stranded residents and tourists, particularly in severely affected areas like Chamba, Manali, and Lahaul & Spiti.
