1 min read

Shimla, January 2: In compliance with the orders from the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the state government has relieved Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu from his position. According to the orders issued by the Personnel Department on Tuesday, Sanjay Kundu has been appointed as the Secretary of the AYUSH Department. Before this, Dr. Amandeep Garg was overseeing the responsibilities of the AYUSH Department.

It is noteworthy that a businessperson from Himachal, Nishant Sharma, had accused DGP Kundu of threatening him, leading to the Himachal Pradesh High Court taking cognizance of the matter. While the High Court ordered the transfer of SP Kangra and DGP Sanjay Kundu from their positions, the government has not yet removed SP Kangra. The High Court had expressed doubt about conducting an impartial investigation with Sanjay Kundu in office. Kundu has challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court.
