Himachal Pradesh Government Forms State Commission for Scheduled Castes

Shimla, 21 October 2024 — In a significant move aimed at promoting the welfare and rights of the Scheduled Castes, the Himachal Pradesh government has established the Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Castes. The commission, based in Una, has been constituted by the Governor under the powers granted by Notification No. SJE-B(12)-4/2014, dated 20th August 2024.

Kuldeep Kumar Dhiman, a resident of Ambota, Tehsil Gagret, District Una, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Commission. Joining him as a member is **Sh. Digvijay Malhotra**, from Jawali, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra.

The terms and conditions of their appointments and duties will be detailed in a subsequent notification. This step is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure equal opportunities, social justice, and protection for the Scheduled Castes across the state.
