Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Announces Key Decisions Across Various Sectors

Shimla, Oct 11 : The Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, convened to approve several significant measures across various sectors. These decisions, aimed at enhancing governance, welfare, and infrastructure, are set to positively impact the state. Here are the key highlights:
1. ‘Van Mitra’ Scheme Approval: The Cabinet granted approval for the ‘Van Mitra’ Scheme initiated by the Forest Department. This scheme will engage one ‘Van Mitra’ in each of the 2061 Forest Beats to enhance local community involvement in protecting, conserving, and developing forest areas.
2. Filling of Forest Guard Posts: In a move to strengthen the Forest Department, the Cabinet authorized the filling of 100 vacant Forest Guard positions on a contractual basis.
3. Hike in Honorarium for Jal Shakti Workers: The honorarium for Jal Rakshaks, Multi-Purpose Workers, Para Fitters, and Para Pump Operators of Jal Shakti Vibhag was increased by Rs. 500 per month, raising it to Rs. 5000, Rs. 4400, Rs. 6000, and Rs. 6000, respectively.
4. Ropeway System for Chintpurni Temple: The Cabinet gave in-principle approval for establishing a passenger ropeway system from Chintpurni Baba Mai Dass Bhawan Parking to Chintpurni Temple in district Una, with a cost of Rs. 76.50 crore, facilitating pilgrims.
5. Addition of E-Taxis: It sanctioned the hiring of 15 e-taxis in the Transport Department to enhance transport services.
6. Promotion of Amateur and Community Radios: In a move to ensure alternative communication during emergencies, the Cabinet decided to promote Amateur and Community Radios in all districts, facilitating information exchange during disaster or emergent situations.
7. Reduction in Additional Goods Tax: The Additional Goods Tax on lead was reduced by 25 paise per kg.
8. Routes for Private Operators: The Cabinet granted approval for 234 routes for private operators and an additional 100 routes for tempo travelers to improve transportation facilities.
9. Designated Authorities for Motor Vehicle Act: Traffic Inspectors, Motor Vehicles Inspectors, Senior Motor Vehicle Inspectors of the Transport Department, and Assistant Sub Inspectors and Head Constables of the Police Department were designated as authorities to compound offenses under various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
10. Relief Package for Disaster-Affected Families: A special relief package for disaster-affected families was approved. This package includes increased compensation for damaged houses, shops, cowsheds, and other assets, supporting affected individuals during their recovery.
11. Shimla Development Plan Amendment: Amendments to the Shimla Development Plan were made, permitting residential construction in green belt areas with no trees.
12. H.P. Town and Country Planning Rules Amendment: The Cabinet allowed construction at a distance of 5 meters and 7 meters from Nallah and Khad, respectively, amending H.P. Town and Country Planning Rules.
