Himachal on Orange Alert: Flights Cancelled, Roads Blocked

The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in seven districts of Himachal Pradesh — Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur — on Monday. Yellow Alerts are in place for Chamba, Kullu, and Shimla. The alert continues through Wednesday with varying intensities, impacting flights and road transport. On Sunday, all flights from Shimla, Kullu, and Kangra airports were canceled due to poor visibility. Over 140 roads are closed, 26 power transformers are damaged, and 40 drinking water supply projects are disrupted across the state.
