Himachal Govt Strengthens Educational Infrastructure in Sirmaur District

Nahan, Sept 01 – The Himachal Pradesh government is implementing multiple initiatives to enhance the quality and accessibility of education in Sirmaur district. The district has 1,013 primary schools, 170 middle schools, 97 high schools, and 175 senior secondary schools. Free textbooks were distributed in 2024-25 to over 56,000 primary and 14,800 secondary students, while SC/ST students received additional writing materials under the IRDP program.
The Atal Uniform Scheme provided uniforms to 37,848 eligible students. The “Apna School: The Himachal School Adoption Program” has engaged community participation in 816 primary/middle schools, 48 high schools, and 138 senior secondary schools. Scholarships, including pre-matric, post-matric, IRDP, and meritorious student schemes, have supported thousands of students.
Nutritional programs such as the Chief Minister’s Fruit Distribution Scheme and Mid-Day Meal Scheme benefit over 2.43 lakh students and 57,548 primary students, respectively. These initiatives aim to make education in Sirmaur more inclusive, accessible, and high-quality, with the district administration actively ensuring effective implementation.
