Hamirpur, July 19: Sunil Sharma Bittu, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, stated that under the leadership of CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh government is actively promoting natural farming by announcing separate support prices for crops grown through this eco-friendly method. This initiative has positioned Himachal as a model for the nation.
Speaking at an awareness camp organized under the ATMA Project in Balh Budhana village near Hamirpur, Sharma highlighted that the government has set premium procurement rates: ₹40/kg for maize, ₹60/kg for wheat, and ₹90/kg for turmeric. These rates are aimed at significantly boosting farmers’ income while providing consumers with safe and chemical-free food.
He encouraged all farmers to adopt natural farming and take full advantage of the government’s support. On the occasion, he also addressed local grievances, resolving several issues on the spot and assuring that others would be brought to the Chief Minister’s notice. He announced plans for constructing a water tank, installing solar lights, and improving roads in the village. Registration forms for farmers interested in natural farming were distributed at the event.
ATMA Project officials Dr. Nitin Sharma, Dr. Rakesh Dhiman, and Dr. Rajesh Sharma briefed the gathering on ongoing agricultural initiatives. The event was also attended by APMC Chairman Ajay Sharma, BDC Vice-Chairman Sanjeev Sharma, local panchayat representatives, Congress members, and community leaders.
