Himachal Food Commission Strengthens NFSA Grievance Redressal

Shimla, 15 October 2025: The State Food Commission, chaired by Dr. S.P. Katyal, reviewed the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013, in a video conference with District Grievance Redressal Officers (DGROs) from all districts of Himachal Pradesh.
The meeting assessed grievance redressal under schemes like TPDS, PM-POSHAN, ICDS, and PMMVY. Dr. Katyal noted that while most districts reported no complaints, it may reflect low public awareness rather than absence of grievances. DGROs were advised to raise awareness through campaigns, signage, social media, and regular inspections of Fair Price Shops, Anganwadi Centres, and schools providing Mid-Day Meals.
Monthly reporting of complaints and their resolution to the State Food Commission was made mandatory. Dr. Katyal appreciated the active participation of all officers and reaffirmed that such reviews will continue to ensure effective implementation of NFSA and welfare of citizens.
