Dharamshala, Dec 18

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA) at the Tapovan Assembly in Dharamshala, Kangra district. The initiative will allow citizens to view assembly proceedings online once the portal is fully operational.

Highlighting Himachal’s digital advancements, CM Sukhu mentioned that the state was the first in India to adopt the e-Vidhan system on August 4, 2014. With NEVA, the state takes another step forward in the Digital India initiative. Currently implemented for Tapovan Assembly, the DPR for Shimla Assembly has been submitted to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

The app will provide insights into assembly proceedings and features of the assembly building. Tourists and students will gain access to learn about legislative processes. The initiative also includes year-round training programs, enabling the assembly premises to host events for youth parliaments, panchayati raj institutions, and urban bodies.

The digital project, with an allocation of ₹8 crore, aims to make assembly operations paperless, contributing to environmental conservation. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announced plans for a hostel-cum-hotel at the Tapovan complex to reduce accommodation costs during sessions while generating revenue during non-session periods.
