Himachal Cabinet expansion likely in January
2 min readHamirpur, Dec 31 – The two member’s cabinet led by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhoo is likely to be expanded either on January 7 or 8 after the ending of first session of new Vidhan Sabha at Dharamshala on January 6.
Sources close to the Chief Minister told that Sukhoo was likely to add eight ministers in his cabinet and representation would be given to the MLA’s of almost all the districts on different considerations.
The winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held at Tapovan in Dharamshala from January 4 to 6. Taking approval from the Governor, the Vidhansabha Secretariat on Friday evening issued a notification for organizing the first session of the 14th Vidhansabha.
On the other hand, Congress’s Abhinandan rally will be held on January 3 at Zorawar Stadium, Dharamshala. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, State Congress President Pratibha Singh will be felicitated in this rally.
Sukhoo is likely to go to Dharamshala via his home district of Hamirpur and as such preparations are going on to receive him at Ukhli bridge connecting Hamirpur with Bilaspur district and from there he will be brought to Hamirpur in a big p[procession of cars, jeeps and two wheelers by the Congress party workers. A rally would also be held at Hamirpur on that occasion to thank the people for pledging faith in the Congress party.
Meanwhile, preparations are on to administer oaths to the new ministers in Shimla on January 7 or 8. The Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is scheduled to leave the state on January 8 afternoon.
Earlier, the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha was proposed from December 22 to 24 at Tapovan in Dharamshala. The session was postponed due to Chief Minister Sukhu being Covid-19 positive. The governor is out of the state till January 1.
In such a situation, after discussion with the Governor’s Secretariat, the government has decided to hold the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha from January 4 to 6 on Friday.
Protem Speaker Chandra Kumar will administer oath to all the elected MLAs on January 4. The Governor’s address will be held on January 5. On January 6, discussion on the address and motion of thanks will be presented.
