Himachal Cabinet Approves Key Appointments and Infrastructure Developments
1 min readShimla, 22 October 2024 — The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved significant decisions today, including the hiring of 2,061 Van Mitras in the Forest Department, while removing the 10-mark personal interview requirement to streamline the process.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of **150 nursing personnel posts** at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College and Hospital, Hamirpur, alongside new Associate and Assistant Professor positions across multiple departments such as General Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, and others.
In addition, the Cabinet sanctioned the opening of a Sub-Divisional Police Officer’s office at Nadaun, Hamirpur, and a new Fire Post at Indora, Kangra, along with the establishment of a Police Post at Shinkula, Lahaul-Spiti.
Further, administrative control of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will now be transferred to the Additional Director General (Home Guards and Civil Defence) to improve disaster response, with the deputation of Home Guards for up to two years.
In its push for environmental sustainability, the Cabinet approved private partnerships to expand the EV charging station network along the state’s six green corridors. The plan includes the operation of 77 EV stations and the creation of automated testing stations for vehicle fitness assessments.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to the recommendations for the 450 MW Shongtong Karchham Power Project, aiming for completion by 2026-27, and formed a sub-committee to review the operations of Shimla’s parking facilities run under the PPP model.
