Under this initiative, the state government has launched “Him Bhog” brand with Him Makki Atta, promoting natural farming and offering health-conscious food options. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu initiated the scheme in December 2024 in Bilaspur, aiming to connect youth with traditional farming and providing self-employment opportunities. The government is buying maize at ₹3,000 per quintal to encourage more farmers to join the scheme.
Rajiv Sharma, the district food supply controller, mentioned that Him Makki Atta is available through 322 depots in Una. The government has already purchased 111 quintals of maize from 16 farmers. Consumers have expressed gratitude for the availability of healthy, affordable food, while farmers appreciate the support for natural farming and employment.
