Heavy Vehicles Banned During Peak Hours from Bhattakufar Chowk to AIIMS Chamyana

Shimla, Nov 28 : In a move to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth access to AIIMS Chamyana, the District Magistrate of Shimla has issued a new traffic order restricting the movement of heavy vehicles on the Bhattakufar Chowk–Chamyana Hospital road during peak hours. The decision comes amid ongoing four-lane construction work which has significantly increased the movement of trucks and tippers in the area, causing inconvenience to patients, hospital staff, and the general public.

As per the notification, from December 3, 2025, until further orders, all heavy vehicles such as trucks and tippers will be completely banned on this stretch from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The order has been issued based on the report of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Shimla, with the objective of reducing traffic jams and ensuring safe and hassle-free movement for commuters and emergency services.

The administration believes that this new arrangement will significantly reduce congestion and improve road safety during the busiest hours of the day.
