Heavy Rainfall Forces Closure of Educational Institutions in Kullu District

Kullu, August 31: In view of continuous heavy rainfall, landslides, and road blockages, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kullu has ordered the closure of all Government and Private educational institutions in the district.
As per the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Torul S. Raveesh (IAS), all schools, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, anganwadi centres, engineering and pharmacy colleges in Banjar, Kullu, and Manali subdivisions will remain closed on 01st and 02nd September 2025. In Anni and Nirmand subdivisions, the closure will be for 01st September 2025 only.
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for September 1 and a Red Alert for September 2 for District Kullu, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The order directs teaching staff to conduct online classes during the closure to ensure academic continuity, as per state government guidelines.
Authorities have also been instructed to ensure the safety and security of students and make necessary arrangements for smooth online learning during this period.
