Health Minister Inaugurates Key Projects at Ripon Hospital, Shimla

Shimla, Sept 5: Health, Social Justice & Empowerment, and Sainik Welfare Minister Colonel (Dr.) Dhani Ram Shandil today inaugurated multiple healthcare projects at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Zonal Hospital (Ripon Hospital), Shimla.
The projects include a connecting bridge linking the old and new hospital buildings, a modular operation theatre, and a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU). The connecting bridge has been built at a cost of ₹1.90 crore, while the modular operation theatre was constructed at a cost of ₹1.52 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that these facilities will significantly improve patient care and strengthen hospital services. He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare across Himachal Pradesh, with a special focus on extending facilities to remote areas.
He added that around 70 model health institutions, each equipped with six specialist doctors and essential facilities, are being established across every Assembly constituency in the state. He also assured that Ripon Hospital will soon receive new equipment under procurement and that staff shortages will be addressed at the earliest.
Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janartha highlighted the historic importance of Ripon Hospital and urged the government to ensure all basic facilities are strengthened to meet the needs of residents.
Director of Health Services Dr. Gopal Barry, SDM (Shimla Urban) Oshin Sharma, District Medical Officer Dr. Yashpal Ranta, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Lokinder Sharma, and other officials were present on the occasion.
