Shimla, July 29: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has stayed the collection of increased electricity charges from medium and large industrial consumers. The division bench of Justice Vivek Singh Thakur and Justice Sushil Kukreja issued the order while hearing a petition filed by Laxmi Stone Crusher. The court observed that the hike from 11% to 37.5% prima facie violates Section 11(2) of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Duty Act, 2009, which prohibits tariff hikes exceeding 50% in a single revision. The next hearing is on August 28.
